The newest wife of millionaire and business tycoon Grant Blakely, Regina is younger than her new husband, which has started tongues wagging about her designs on the older Grant Blakely. The term “Gold Digger” has been whispered by more than one woman from her Mint Julep! Confident with a slightly intimidating air of entitlement, Regina is fashionable and poised, and her extremely large hat and beautifully tailored dress have ensured that she has been photographed often at the derby today.
Daughter of millionaire and business tycoon Grant Blakely and new step-daughter of Regina Blakely, Clara is a socialite and enjoys the spotlight. Having grown up “A Blakely”, her standards are high and her tongue is sharp. She views pretty much everyone else with an air of disdain, but truly believes that blood is thickerthan water. This confident young woman seems off her 'game” today though, and many have wondered what could be throwing off the seemingly unflappable Clara Blakely.
Melissa works in the barn with the horses in general, but lately she has only been focused on one horse in particular – a young thoroughbred named Gypsy Soul. She calls herself a “Horse Whisperer”, and while some insist there is no such career, those who have seen her at work can't deny that she has a way of communicating with the horses unlike anything they have ever seen! Melissa has a very strong moral compass and a calm, peaceful, reassuring demeanour, not only with the horses, but also with people. This quiet woman definitely sticks out among the rest of those here today in Millionaire's Row, as instead of a large hat and eccentric hat, she wears riding gear, as she has come straight from the stables after being accused of these murders!
Movie Star Liza Masini is half of a Hollywood power couple. Together with her husband, Raphael, Liza has taken the world by storm since the two appeared together in a movie called “The Red Lilac”. Since, each has enjoyed successful careers separately, but their loyal fans are eager to see them on-screen together again. Liza has an air about her that only superstars seem to possess – confident and slightly mysterious.
A bit of a mystery today in Millionaire's Row, Tandy clearly doesn't come from money, although her designer knock-off “Derby Dress” shows she is certainly trying to fit in with those in the upper echelons of society. If her attire didn't give her away though, her manner of speech would, as the moment she opens her mouth to speak, it's clear she has never seen the inside of a private school. Regardless, Tandy is friendly, if not a bit introverted, and was excited to watch the Derby from “so high up!” today.
Greta is a woman who has lived with opulence her whole life, and it shows. She enters each room with an unparalleled sense of entitlement, and is quick to give orders to anyone she views as her subordinate. She and her husband, Dom Delacroix, have watched the Derby from Millionaire's Row wince they were both young and are part-owners of one of the horses in today's race, a thoroughbred named 'A Stone's Throw'.
Daughter of the late Gregory Windham, Sophie is here in Millionaire's Row today rather reluctantly. After the sudden death of her parents in a car crash, Sophie and her sister, Phoebe, inherited partial ownership of one of the horses racing today, a thoroughbred namedA Stone's Throw. A humble young woman, Sophie had no desire to be involved in the races today, or the ownership of the horse, but her sister has convinced her to attend Millionaire's Row with her today to honour their late parents,
Petunia Attridge, nee Petunia Claxonbury, is a baroness and, while she is pleasant and polite, she leaves a decidedly tough impression that is unique to a woman of high breeding. While those who have enjoyed a conversation with her can attest that she is, indeed, pleasant enough, there is just something about her that makes one want to stay on her good side. Petunia is attending the derby with her husband, Claudius Attridge of the Bristol Attridges.
Daughter of shipping magnate Garfield Blythe, Pammy is the heir to the Blythe
wealth, and belongs to one of the wealthiest families in the country. With huge wealth at her fingertips, Pammy has been dabbling in various businesses – first with her own clothing line, then a cosmetics line, and finally with a fleet of luxury cruise liners. She bores of each quickly and moves onto the next thing, but her father is quick to move in employees to manage those businesses for her. Pammy's most recent passion is horse racing, and she recently purchased a three-year-old thoroughbred named Tall Drink, who is to race in the derby today.
Daughter of the late Gregory Windham, Phoebe is attending the derby today, and Millionaire's Row, with her sister, Sophie Windham. Their parents, who recently died in a car crash, were part-owners of a horse named A Stone's Throw, who is racing in today's derby. Not one to get caught up in the pomp of such an event,Phoebe does not flash her millionaire status, but decided to attend the race, and Millionaire's Row today to honour her late parents, who would have loved to watch their horse race in the derby. Phoebe is beautiful but far from egotistical despite her money and looks, and wears a dress and an overstated hat to rival any at the derby.
Reporter for the city's largest newspaper, Chelsea Cohen is attending the Derby in a work capacity, as she is doing a piece on how millionaires spend their free time. Chelsea is fun-loving and vivacious, and not just a little excited to “peek behind the curtain” today and attend the famous and exclusive Millionaire's Row. She has even bet on a few of the races, choosing to make her selections solely on the names of the horses she likes best.
Millionaire and international business tycoon Grant Blakely is a high-roller, socially influential and a down-right intimidating man. Grant Blakely excels at business, and has dedicated his life to building his legacy. Charismatic to a fault, people are quick to become enamored with Grant Blakely, but those who cross him quickly learn that to feel his wrath is to have everything one holds dear taken from them.
Bartender for Millionaire's Row, Adam Claxon has the job of serving everyone here today while making sure their Mint Juleps are just right. A man familiar with high society, Adam is professional and polite – someone who does his job and does it well enough that those with the wealth and status to win an invitation to Millionaire's Row hardly even notice he is there.
Dr. George Johnson is an equine vet, and has spent his career tending to the horses on the Derby circuit. While some have argued that George is “past his prime”, he retains his position on the circuit and, with the support of influential people like millionaire Grant Blakely, there is little chance he will be retiring any time soon. Dr. George Johnson wears a traditional seersucker suit, the same suit he has worn to the derby for decades.
Husband of Liza Masini, Raphael is a Hollywood star, and has been since his debut film with his wife, called “The Red Lilac”. Voted last year'sMost Gorgeous Man Alive, Raphael is a man on top of the world, enjoying fame, celebrity and the perks that go with all of it – like viewing the Derby from Millionaire's Row in a suit that costs more than most people make in a year! Despite his expensive taste in clothes, Raphael is philanthropic, and has started a foundation to help underprivileged children.
One of the jockeys for the Derby, Gerard rides a horse named Flight of Fancy. A jockey since he was young, he grew up working and training horses in the Blakely family stables, and formed close friendships with the Blakely children when they were young. Naturally, he was not attending the Derby in Millionaire's Row, but in a working capacity, as he was scheduled to race Flight of Fancy in the Derby today.
Wife is Greta, Dom Delacroix is one of the longest-standing attendees of the Derby. A man born into wealth, he and his wife are considered staples at every society event, and they always arrive in style. Dom is brash and loud and likes to punctuate his sentences by slapping the other person on the back, and more than a few men have ended up with mint julep on their bow ties after a conversation with Dom. He is a partial owner of one of the horses in today's race – ahorse named ’A Stone's Throw'.
Son of the late Gregory Windham, Pete is attending the derby today, and Millionaire's Row, with his sister, Sophie Windham. Their parents, who recently died in a car crash, were part-owners of a horse namedA Stone's Throw, who is racing in today's derby. Not one to get caught up in the pomp of such an event, Pete does not flash his millionaire status, but decided to attend the race, and Millionaire's Row today to honour his late parents, who would have loved to watch their horse race in the derby. Pete is handsome but far from egotistical despite his money and looks, and wears a classic suit.
A quiet and stern man, Claudius Attridge is a new face in Millionaire's Row. Introducing himself as Claudius Attridge of the Bristol Attridges, Claudius is confident and has a handshake that can shatter bones. His speech proves that he is a man of high breeding, and he seems to ooze refinement.
Jockey Brad Emms holds the record for second-most wins at this particular derby, and today is racing a horse that is relatively new to him – a thoroughbred named Tall Drink. He is one of the most sought-after jockeys on the circuit, and the wealthy and elite have paid him so well to race their horses that he has become quite wealthy in his own right. His success has made him cocky, something that comes through in all of his interactions.
The jockey for a horse named A Shot In The Dark, Jake Garrett is one of the newer racers, and has not made many friends with the other jockeys on the circuit. He believes in doing things “by the book” and while the other jockeys hang around after the races and socialize, he is always quick out the door. Jake is slightly rude and awfully antagonistic, but is tolerated because he is a fantastic at what he does.
Please reach us at wineauxwine@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
A Detective/Suspect attends the event and has knowledge others will attempt to gain. The Detective/Suspect may also be the murderer but does not know it.
A Witness has knowledge others will need to solve the mystery. A Witness will also need information from others to solve the mystery. A Witness is not the murderer.
The party you are attending is classified as an interactive “Mingle” mystery. This means you will be up off your hiney, speaking with the other Suspects and participants and asking and answering questions to piece together the mystery. It’s a true investigation, which means that you will have to use “The Little Grey Cells” as Poirot would say, to form a theory about the killer, their motives, who had the means (ability) and who had the opportunity to commit murder.
If this sounds intimidating, don’t worry. It’s actually easier than the the traditional form of mystery party. You don’t have to perform lines or embarrassing stunts, you just simply investigate, and try not to incriminate yourself. You will be provided with a few questions in the Announcement of Murder (which are also on the Notes page you will receive from your host). Those questions will allow you to gather enough information to naturally come up with your own questions.
No, you can come as you are. If you would like to dress for the Character, please go all out! We just want everyone to be comfortable and enjoy the evening.
